Select a three-digit combination from 000 to 999. If you are filling in a playslip, mark one number between 0 and 9 on each of the three columns. Alternatively, you can play a Quick Pick to get a random set.
You can choose between two different play types – Exact Order (Straight) or Any Order (Box). The play type you choose determines how much you can win.
Decide whether to play the Midday drawing, the Evening drawing, or both. You can play the same numbers in 2, 3, 4 5, 6, 7, 14, 21 or 28 consecutive drawings.
Pick 3 costs a fixed $1 per wager in Kansas, so the total you pay depends on the number of boards you play and how many drawings you enter. The cut-off times are 12:59 p.m. for the Midday draw and 8:59 p.m. for the Evening draw.
Drawings take place at 1:10 p.m. and 9:10 pm. You’ll need to keep your ticket safe after you’ve paid for it, so that you can check the results and claim any prizes if you do win.
Pick 3 offers you the choice over how to play, whether you play an Exact Order wager or Any Order. Here’s more about each play type.
An Exact Order play, otherwise known as a Straight, requires you to match all three winning numbers in the correct positions. For example, if you choose the numbers 123, the only combination that would win you the associated prize would be 123. If the numbers were drawn as 132, your wager would be lost.
You can select any combination of numbers – three unique digits, three that are identical, or two the same and one different.
Also referred to as a Box wager, this type of play gives you a win as long as your three numbers are drawn. The order doesn’t matter. If you played the numbers 123 as a Box wager, for example, and the winning combination was 132, you would win the associated prize. Depending on the combination of numbers you pick, your Box will be known as a 3-Way or a 6-Way:
You need to match all the numbers to win as required by your play type. Go to the Prizes page to find out more about the payouts you can win for each play type, along with the odds.
